| FOX Radio News Ethics Analyst: Obama’s CEO Cap Isn’t About Pay, It’s About Principle and It’s an Un-American Principle |
Naples, FL – President Obama’s stimulus package regarding limiting CEO salaries to $500 thousand a year is un-American and a very dangerous precedent to government intervention in business according to America’s Everyday Ethics Guy and FOX Radio News Ethics Analyst, Vince Crew. Conducting interviews around the country on the latest provision of the economic bailout for select distressed banks and companies, Crew spoke to the Fox News nationwide syndicated radio stations.
Crew is the author of Everyday Ethics, Everlasting Consequences (available at www.REACHdevelopment.com January, 2008). The book examines the foundations, temptations, and ways leaders must regard decision making with a perspective of long-term consequences.
“Sure taxpayers are outraged at lavish earnings and lifestyles of CEOs; however, those plans are up to shareholders and boards to address, not politicians and lawyers who have little or no experience meeting a payroll or running a business. They are simply ill-equipped to legislate such doctrine, regardless of the seriousness of the situation,” according to Crew.
“The government proposal is a curious ethical beginning to overriding board governance and setting compensation,” Crew said. “This could easily extend to price controls, profit regulation and other nationalization techniques tried and failed in Russia, Venezuela, Cuba, and other anti-American forms of government.”
“The worst decisions are made in the midst of haste and a supposed crisis, when we relinquish control to someone else. Government solutions seldom solve anything and never are efficient or effective – think FEMA, the Post Office, the DMV, IRS, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and the list goes on. And now we want to turnover more to Washington bureaucrats? I don’t think so,” as Crew ended one interview.
Crew was interviewed on morning talk shows including WOWO (Fort Wayne), WHAM (Rochester), WJNO (West Palm Beach), KTRH (Houston), WILM (Wilmington), KOGO (San Diego), KOA (Denver), KPAY (Chico), WHLO (Akron), and WGST (Atlanta).
