Is America is Finally Tired of Special Treatment and No Consequences?
Naples, FL – “Charles Rangel’s ‘stepping aside’ is the latest in a long line of leader fallout. We’re seeing a sea change in America. Whether it’s the end of the Kennedy dynasty, the Tiger escapades, and other icons of the untouchable sectors of celebrity,” according to Ethics Analyst, Vince Crew.

Crew, author of Everyday Ethics, Everlasting Consequences (available at www.REACHdevelopment.com), writes, consults, and speaks on ethical decision making, conduct, and the consequences that some endure and others don’t.

“One of the greatest dimensions of America is our freedom of choice and fairness in consequences of reward and reprimand. For too long politicians, celebrities, executives, and others have gotten away by because of some Perverse Acceptance of a Special Situation,” Crew went on to say.

The 79-year-old lawmaker, who unseated equally-trail blazing, ethically-challenged Adam Clayton Powell Jr. in 1970, may have been dethroned from his 37 year reign.

The list of charges against Harlem's representative includes taking corporate-funded trips to the Caribbean, improper fundraising activities, his rent-controlled apartments, failure to pay taxes on his Dominican beach place, and even his storing of a vehicle without license plates in a House garage.

“This latest happening is yet another sign that the ethical winds of Washington just may be shifting in favor of accountability and consequences for the abuses of power and disregard for laws and guidelines. Perhaps the only special treatment political leaders should receive is having higher not lower standards” Crew concluded.
