We all find ourselves in 'a slump' or at a stage in our lives, business, or career - when we ask the question: "Isn't there something else I could be doing?" When that time comes, you need to get help sooner rather than later. Here are my 25 'warning signs' that you need to make significant changes:
1. Every day looks the same as the day before
2. I'm spending more time at the office, less with the family
3. I'm seeing increasing competition in my marketplace
4. I've noticed increasing government regulation in my industry
5. I can't afford to go to industry association conferences
6. I can't justify at least the same amount of vacation I give my employees
7. I'm seeing a significant loss of customers
8. I've experienced 2 consecutive years of diminishing profits
9. My phone hasn't rung in at least 10 days with a new opportunity, prospect, or challenge
10. I've been distracted by ideas other than my current business
11. I know "going to the office ain't what it used to be"
12. I dread Mondays and can't wait 'til Friday
13. I'm spending more time in my office rather than walking the halls or meeting with customers
14. I'm avoiding phone calls
15. I'm seeing more employee turnover in my organization
16. I'm having trouble making 'ends meet'
17. I find myself saying "but I'm not alone" when people ask me about my business being slow
18. I rationalize my work by saying "yeah, but I have (insert bills, family and other obligations)"
19. I no longer feel 'in control' of my life, income, future, options, etc.
20. My circle of friends/influence really hasn't increased significantly over the past 2 years
21. I have no time for any charity, volunteering, giving, etc.
22. I'm feeling pressure to do things I know aren't right
23. I find it harder and harder to accept credit for successes or blame for failures
24. I don't have a hobby or am spending less and less time enjoying one
25. I find everything I do usually centers on business
